This week, APS had an additional confirmed case in the building. The individual developed symptoms over the weekend and has not been in school this week.

APS Families,

I wanted to update everyone regarding COVID-19. This week, we had our first confirmed case in the building. It is likely that we will continue to see cases in our area and district in the coming months.

As parents, we need your help. Please be vigilant in monitoring your child for potential symptoms. If you observe symptoms, please keep your student home. I know this can be a burden on families and students who miss school. This being said, we have an incredible teaching staff who will work with you and your student to ensure that they continue to learn while out and get back up to speed as quickly as possible upon their return. Keeping your sick student home and allowing for recovery is an excellent way you can help our school district continue to provide in-person learning and extra-curricular activities.

We will continue to clean and disinfect our facilities to help reduce the spread. As parents, you are more than welcome to take any additional precautions you deem necessary for your children. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or Mr. McIntosh here at school.

ESSER III- ARP Fund Usage

As a part of ESSER III – ARP funding compliance, each school is required to post to their website a plan for the use of the ESSER III funds.

APS will use the federal ESSER III funds to provide our students with high quality instructions materials, to diagnose and address unfinished learning, to plan and prepare for acceleration, and to ensure an equitable education for all students.

The following is a list of uses for the ESSER III funds:

  1. New MacBook Air devices to support our districts 1:1 initiative and to equip our students and staff should the need to return to remote education arise again.
  2. New Online and Hard copy Math curriculum that has been thoroughly researched to help accelerate student learning.
  3. Short Bus Purchase. This purchase will provide better spacing to maximize social distancing.
Arnold Public Schools Plan for Safe Return:
 
Pursuant to the Federal American Rescue Plan Act, Section 2001(i)- ESSER III, the following plan has been created for Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Services. Feedback on the plan can be communicated with Superintendent Joel Morgan at joel.morgan@arnoldpublicschools.org. This plan will be publicly reviewed for comment every six months for potential revisions. APS Plan for Safe Return.

December 8, 2025 Minutes

A Meeting of the Board of Education of the School District of Arnold, in the County of Custer, in the State of Nebraska School District No. 89 of Custer County, Nebraska, was convened in open and Public Session at 7:00 P.M. on the 8th day of December 2025, at the East Campus, in said District.  Notice of the Meeting was given in advance thereof according to Law by Proper Publication, a designated method for giving notice to the School District,  A copy of the Proof of Publication being attached to these minutes.  Notice of this meeting was given in advance to all members of the Board of Education.  Availability of the Agenda and the Purpose of the meeting was communicated in the advanced notice of the meeting to the members of this meeting.

Board of Education met in regular session Mon, December 8, 2025 at 7:00 P.M. with Bierman, Bowers, Cool, Dalrymple and Strasburg present.  Nansel was absent.  

Meeting called to order

Motion Strasburg, seconded Bierman to approve the agenda.  Unanimous on roll call vote. 

Motion Dalrymple, seconded Bierman to approve the minutes of the last meeting.  Unanimous on roll call vote.

Motion Strasburg, seconded Cool to approve claims totaling $322,023.08.  Unanimous on roll call vote.

Motion Bierman, seconded Dalrymple to approve Senior Meal Agreement with South Central Area Agency on Aging.  Motion passes 4-1.  Bierman - Yes, Bowers - Yes, Cool - Yes, Dalrymple - Yes and Strasburg - No 

Motion Bierman, seconded Strasburg to approve Board Resignation from Bryce Nansel.  Unanimous on roll call vote.

Accepted Principal and Superintendent Reports

The next regular meeting will be Tuesday, January 13, 2025 at 7:00 P.M. at the East Campus.

Meeting adjourned by Bowers at 8:13 P.M.

    Board of Education met in regular session Tues, November 11, 2025 at 7:00 P.M. with Bierman, Bowers, Dalrymple,  Nansel and Strasburg present.  Cool arrived at 7:03 P.M..

    Motion Dalrymple, seconded Bierman to approve claims totaling $334,169.08.  Motion carried 5-0-1.  Nansel abstained, Bierman, Bowers, Dalrymple, Cool and Strasburg were Yes.
