Winner of the 2019 Geography Bee:  Josie Christensen

Winner of the 2018:  Colbi Smith

On January 16, Arnold Public schools held their second renowned Geography Bee that was brought back by the National Junior Honor Society. The winner Josie Christensen (4th grade) won after 8 tiebreaker rounds and she had 14 total rounds. Josie learned the answer to her final question was when her fourth grade class went to the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha. Her question was what is the driest content south of the equator with the answer of Antarctica.

It all started off with Mrs. Moninger (11-12 English) welcoming everyone for coming and saying that Mr. Peterson (7-12 History) would be asking the questions so all questions would be pronounced correctly.

It was tough competition with there being only six kids after the first round of eliminations. After the second round they where down to two kids Josie and Crew Whitthuhn (5th grade).  Who where some of the youngest kids there.

After a winner came out on top they brought back four kids to decide a 3rd place incase the date for the local Geography Bee doesn’t work out. It only took one round to decide the tiebreaker for 3rd place that was Devin Peterson (8th grade).
